Hi,

I am evaluating iTunes Folder Watch and it works very fine except for one (missing?) feature: is it posible to update the tag information in itunes for files that have been tag modified since added to itunes Library? I use Tag&Rename to retag music files already included in itunes Library and changes do not appear until the tracks are played in iTunes.

If it is not possible, could this one be considered a feature request? For me, it is the only thing that keeps me missing the problematic (in Vista) iTunes Library Updater.

Thanks for your attention (and sorry for my bad english)

Ideally, it should update any modified tag. All my songs are tagged before inclusion in iTunes but I usually refine them changing genre (to more concrete ones), artist (to eliminate little diferences between same artist tags), title (especially in classis music to get more uniform ones), Album or cover art (using external tools to get covert art usable outside iTunes).

Where do you see this modified tag in iTunes? I'm not sure it's something the iTunes API allows external apps to update.

I am not sure of being clear enough. I'll try to explain me better. If you modify (with an external application like Tag&Rename) the tag information (title, artists, etc) for any file included in itunes library, the tags are not updated in iTunes until the file is accessed (for example getting info or playing it). What I would like iTFW to be able to do is compare the tags of files in the watch folder that are already included in iTunes Library with the corresponding tags in the library and update the iTunes Library it in case there is a difference.

I think that is outside the scope of what iTFW was designed for - and is probably more of an issue with iTunes itself, in fact I'm surprised it doesn't do this already.

I was wondering this myself - what I think the original poster was asking - or at least what I want to know - is - if I update the tag on a song - let's say I use tag and rename and change the genre - it will be saved with a new modified date - does ITFW - recognize that this date has changed since it last checked the library and re-add or update that song?  I suppose I wouldn't want it added twice but I would like the information to be updated.

Sort of a library updater.

I only use ITFW in manual mode if that makes a difference and I am using the 2.0.02 version
