i just changed over 4000 files..... i just used this program for the first time, and even though the itunes library was upgraded correctly (i believe), i do not see any of the changes that i made and were upgraded on the itunes library list... i also just read that tags are not upgraded in itunes until you click on that song. i did this a couple of times and found the tags had changed...soooooo, the question is, do i have do this 4000+ times to see the correct data, or is there another way around this? i use mediamonkey to do my tagging. would it be better just to delete the whole itunes library and reload it from scratch? or is there a better way...thanks for all you help on this...

Well, iTFW does not recognise changes in tags between the song files and iTunes (it would really slow it down to do this) - it only recognises new song files that don't exist in iTunes at all, and allows them to be added selectively or automatically.

iTunes will as you say recognise changes in tags itself, but is it only on clicking on them? How about selecting them all and selecting Get Info? May be worth a try.

thanks for you very fast response! now i understand that this software does not udpate tags in itunes unless you somehow click on that song, and then itunes will, almost reluctantly, give up the secret. why is itunes so popular and so primitive at the same time? i guess it's all about marketing, huh? i did what you suggested and selected 'al'l and the asked for 'get info'...but all was as it was after that, no changes at all. i guess i need to delete the whole library and refill to get it right... thanks for you help anyhow...OCEAN

ok, now i deleted the whole itunes library, and started it fresh with my updated tags and all is well until i startup 'folder watch' and it says that there are still 3000+ changes to be made...is there anyway to clear it and start fresh from the new start?  thanks again

So you refreshed your whole iTunes library by loading (from files/folders) from scratch, and iTFW says there are 3000 new tracks? I'm assuming you're implying that the 3000 are already in iTunes so shouldn't be labelled as "new". Can you test one of them and compare how it is detected in iTFW (ie. what is the watch folder definition) and what is the full path registered in iTunes (via Get Info - the "where" info at the bottom of the summary tab) - is there any obvious difference?

yes, they appear to not be present in the itune library...hmmm, why would that be? what i did was delete the entire itunes library, and then told it to add a new folder (the same source folder as before)...and i thought that all was good, but for some reason it is not...why would these tagged files not be present in the new itunes library? is there something that i am not understanding in all of this...thanks again for your great responses...

For future information - Click OK at the end!

If you change the ID3 tags on an mp3, and iTunes hasn't yet recognised the new tags then select all, Get Info, and click OK.  That forces a refresh.

Obvioulsy, make sure you don't change anything before clicking OK.
